How acidic is your body? Acidic foods to avoid.

How acidic is your body? Acidic foods to avoid and lower your belly fat risk.

It's not possible to avoid eating all non acidic foods. Some acid is needed to maintain a healthy balance. Most American's diet is largely acidic though, and that will set you up for a future of disease, low energy, excess weight and other more serious conditions.

Eating these foods in moderation, which means not every day or in small portions, is fine.

  • Meats  Red meat is highly acidic and should be eaten sparingly in small portions less than four times a week.  Fresh water fish is one of the least acidic meats.
  • Eggs are also very high in acid content.  One egg several times a week is fine, the problem is, we eat foods that quite often have eggs in them, so consider that when you eat your breakfast.
  • Anything fried.  Definitely foods that are fried should be eaten minimally.
  • Artificial sweeteners.  Do you chew gum every day?  Stay away from sugar free foods and coffee sweetners.
  • Soda. The high fructose corn syrup in soda and in other foods is highly acidic.

Acidic foods when eaten in excess have an inflammatory effect in the body and after time, chronic inflammation causes permanent damage to organs.

Balance the effects of a highly acidic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables.  If you don't have time to get enough of these alkaline foods (fruits and vegetables), try a greens supplement.
