Here are some more vitamin D deficiency issues according to the most recent research studies.
According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, there is a greater risk of breast cancer among women with deficient levels of vitamin D. The study showed that those women who had the lowest serum blood levels of vitamin D had a greater percentage of breast cancer than the control group.
At an annual conference of the European Society of Human Genetics, Dr. Karani S Vimaleswaran reported that over 35 studies that included over 100,000 participants, associated higher serum blood levels of vitamin D with reduced blood pressure. A deficiency showed an association with hypertension.
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports reduced risk for metabolic disease and cardio issues with higher serum blood levels of vitamin D. According to the study, those with the highest levels of vitamin D had reduced risk of insulin resistance, lower total cholesterol numbers, lower triglycerides and better ratios of HDL and LDL cholesterol.
