If you struggle with anxiety, stimulating your nervous system is something to avoid. Did you know that food can stimulate your nervous system? We're all familiar with coffee, but vegetables can also stimulate your nervous system.
How do you know if you can't tolerate nightshade vegetables? Nightshades are potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and even the superfood that many people are adding to smoothies, goji berries.
The reason you many not tolerate them is because they produce a natural pesticide called glycoalkaloids which deter the plants predators. But glycoalkaloids are toxic to human cells.
These glycoalkaloids block an enzyme in the body which results in over-stimulation of your nervous system. Glycoalkaloids build up in your system over time and anxiety is a side effect.
Prepared foods that contain nightshade ingredients include ketchup, potato starch, chilies, bell peppers, tomato paste, paprika, red pepper flakes and cayenne.
It takes about 5 days for Glycoalkaloids to leave your system, so give yourself that time while avoiding those foods to see if you are sensitive to them.
